As a futurist I reckon I have a pretty good grasp on guesses for the future. Something that seems obvious to me is that one day we will all wear AR spectacles (or contact lenses) that give us more information about what we are looking at. For example, knowledge around someone you are looking at that you have either learned historically, paid to know, or have received with their permission. In Bulgaria I might be able to spot fellow All Blacks fans…
Just like we might be able to recognise people or facets of them via glasses, perhaps cars could do the same with each other. Imagine if, while driving, your car informs you “hey I just saw Jason’s car driving the other way”, or “Maria’s car is over there in the same mall parking lot”.
With permission, of course.
It is an easy overlay for a car system already looking everywhere. There are no technological hurdles.
What I love about this are the extras. Imagine every car recording every other car’s movements. Licence plate, location, direction. To a database. Or, securely stored by the car and only queried by the authorities with a valid reason, like a murder suspect. Dashcam on steroids.
